Casual Chess by Peono Chess Club

CASUAL CHESS @ CONTROLSunday, 5 April We’re back at Control with another Casual Chess session, an open invitation to play, experiment, and explore the game beyond its usual limits. No pressure, no fixed format, just space to engage with chess in a more fluid and creative way. Everyone is welcome to join, regardless of level, age, or gender. For this edition, we’re inviting artist Toma Ana Cristina, who will present a mesmerizing handmade ceramic chess set, exhibited and available for sale during the event. Her practice moves across ceramics and other media, focusing on composition, drawing, color, and the relationship between geometric and organic forms. Her works exist somewhere between art and object, combining functionality with visual expression. From 17:00 to 23:00, we will be delighted by two special DJ sets from Valerius (K not K) and Trinkova. Valerius, one half of Karpov not Kasparov, brings a playful and conceptual approach, translating small dramas from the chessboard into sound while moving freely across styles. Trinkova follows with an energetic and eclectic mix, blending ethereal ambient, UK garage, experimental and electro, balancing softness with darker tones in a set that feels immersive and unpredictable. Join us throughout the day and into the evening for a laid back Sunday filled with chess, art and music. ♟️✨ Artwork done by Toma Ana Cristina.
