Casual Chess by Peono Chess Club

Casual Chess is back at Control, and this time there’s a little competition in the mix. At 17:00 we kick off a 5|5 blitz tournament: 12 players, Swiss-style, five minutes on the clock and a five-second increment. Enough time to think, not enough to overthink. The poster for this edition comes courtesy of Robert Blaj artist, chess enthusiast, and the creative eye behind the night’s look. From 20:00, Cristu takes over the decks. A versatile DJ with years of experience rooted in Chicago house and Detroit, he moves just as easily through funk and disco. He also plays chess, and he’ll be competing in the tournament before he takes the booth. From 23:00 until 02:00, Leascv has the last word. The founder of PEONO Chess Club, he’s a selector drawn to the leftfield, with post-punk, acid, and sounds that keep you guessing. Tournament spots are limited to 12 players. To reserve yours, message the PEONO Chess Club Instagram page or arrive before the event starts and grab a spot at Control. There will be prizes for the first and second place. Come for the tournament, stay for the music, or just drop by for a game or two. All levels welcome. See you at Control.
