About

Acclaimed avant-garde composer and lutenist Jozef Van Wissem returns to Bucharest for a special show – Thursday, October 29 – as part of his worldwide tour supporting his new album, This Is My Blood, released this spring. Known for his distinctive all-black Baroque lute, Van Wissem creates a hypnotic and atmospheric sound that bridges Renaissance and Baroque traditions with contemporary electronics, field recordings and voice. His music is at once minimal and intense, meditative and dark, with a strong sense of the arcane. Van Wissem is also widely known for his collaborations with filmmaker and musician Jim Jarmusch, including the acclaimed soundtrack to Only Lovers Left Alive, for which he received the Cannes Soundtrack Award in 2013. His work extends across film, theatre and video games, with scores including The Sims Medieval, Uncle Howard, Land, Irma Vep, Queens and Un Prince. His new album, This Is My Blood, explores themes of contemporary darkness and personal loss. The record is bookended by cinematic, hypnotic slide-lute pieces originally improvised for Maquina, a film shot in the Colorado desert, while the album’s sole vocal piece, “Remission”, adds another dimension to its stark and contemplative atmosphere. Van Wissem has toured extensively in venues ranging from rock festivals to churches and has collaborated with artists including Tilda Swinton and Zola Jesus. His performances are known for their ability to move between quiet, meditative passages and much darker, more intense sonic territory. Jozef Van Wissem live in Bucharest is presented by Liveland with the support of Control. ___ Tickets: 80 lei - Presale100 lei - General Sale  * Children up to 12 years old do not have access to the event.** Children up to 16 years old need a valid ticket and must be accompanied by a parent with a valid ticket.*** Minors aged 16 to 18 years old have access with a valid ticket.**** Serving and alcohol consumption are strictly forbidden for all minors.
